Superintendent’s Announcement on Leadership Changes

Good Afternoon Aronimink Community,

We wanted to provide you with this important communication. Over the past 8 years, Aronimink Elementary School has been led by a wonderful Principal, Mr. Josh Rehak. Josh’s career began at Upper Darby High School as a history teacher. He quickly embraced leadership opportunities, becoming a lead teacher and eventually an Assistant Principal at Upper Darby High School. During his time at Upper Darby High School, he masterfully crafted relationships with students, staff, families, and his colleagues. We recognized his talents as an Assistant Principal at Upper Darby High School and appointed him as the Principal of Aronimink Elementary School. Principal Rehak’s talents have now been recognized by another school district, the Rose Tree Media School District, who has offered him an opportunity to take on a new challenge. It is never easy to send out this type of communication because it is very difficult to find and attract talented educators, and the Upper Darby School District Community has certainly benefited from having Mr. Rehak as a school leader both at the High School and Aronimink Elementary School.

We want to wish Mr. Rehak nothing but the best as he continues to work as a leader in public education with the Rose Tree Media School District. We know that Mr. Rehak started his career as a history teacher, and history will show that he helped the Upper Darby School District navigate one of the most complicated school construction projects and school merger plans in the past 50 years. We want to provide Mr. Rehak with an opportunity to say goodbye to you as a school community before we provide the next steps on how the District will address future leadership of the school. We will send out a communication in the coming days. Mr. Rehak will be transitioning to his new leadership position in the Rose Tree Media School District in January.

Sincerely,
Daniel P. McGarry, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools
